EASTERN REGIONAL ATHLETICS

 SERVICES TO DISABILITY AWARD 2011 – BOB MCKINLAY

Bob has been an athletics coach for 10 years and for the past 3 1/2 years with All Ability Sports and Leisure in Harlow, where he coaches young people and adults with physical and all special needs. He is excellent at motivating people by realising that everyone has an ability that can nurtured to achieve the best they can.

He has gained coaching qualifications to level 3 standard in Athletics, he is a mentor for England Athletics, helping other clubs develop disability sections in Essex. He is a great role model. He also has coaching qualifications in Rugby and Basketball. In Harlow he is director of coaching for Harlow Athletic Club, he regularly coaches weekly training sessions for the All Ability Section of the Harlow Athletic Club and runs fortnightly Multi Sports for All Ability Sports and Leisure and provides sports camps for Harlow Council Get Active in the School Holidays for Athletics and Basketball.
He has helped coach and develop Paralympic 2012 hopeful Richard Chiassaro in wheelchair racing. He has helped provide the Challenge Cup Harlow for the last 3 years which had more than 70 participants take part each year. Helped send a team of 24 disabled athletes to represent Harlow Athletic Club at the Eastern Regional Disability Championship 2009 to 2011. Which this year had a team of 23 who were successful and clocked up an impressive total of 59 medals, 38 gold, 16 silver and 5 bronze medals between them. Plus 3 junior athletes were selected to be part of the team to represent Eastern Region at the National Disabiltiy Athletics Championship 2011.
